Extreme series vehicles are a clear choice for those who really need to drive in any circumstances. You do not have to be afraid to drive on sand, snow, ice, mud or water thanks to giant tyres. There were certain body parts modifications needed in order this Niva can be approved for operation in the EU and EEA countries. These parts are fully removable and can be stored inside the luggage compartment. It is a 4WD vehicle powered by proved four-valve 1.7 litre engine with average petrol consumption of 12 litres/100 km during on-road driving. Increased full-tank range is secured by two auxiliary petrol tanks, 70 litres each. There is a fully removable roof window and a searching light which is operated from the interior. Other Extreme models with a body based on Lada Niva have also a valid approval.
